Yeehaw from Nashville!  It’s spring which means time for weddings, which also means bachelorette parties and girls getaways.  These can be all out indulgent weekends, but if it matters to you, there are little tips you can use to be mindful, keep your health in check, and remain balanced.

I’m actually at my best friend’s bachelorette party weekend right now and am pretty proud of how we crafted a super awesome, yet health conscious weekend!  By the way I apologize in advance for blowing up your newsfeed but we’re just having too good a time not to share…and I will enjoy looking at yours when you’re out and about too, so post away, girlfriend. 😉

Here are my 5 fave tips:

1.Stock the house/hotel room with good stuff – stop by the local grocery store to load up on veggies, fruit, healthy yogurt, eggs, and quick yet nutritious snacks (I wrote a post about those here).  If you don’t bring the less healthy stuff in then it won’t be a tempting option.  Simple.

2.Schedule a group workout activity – not everyone has to come, but it’s nice to make a group exercise event an option.  You can go for a walk, a run, try a new class, or consider your time on the dance floor a workout as well.  This morning we girls went to Barry’s Bootcamp in Nashville and it felt great to get our sweat on together before we headed off to a tasty brunch with some good southern cocktails!

3.Bring your sleep necessities – rental houses and hotel rooms can be noisy, especially when there’s a large, fun group, so it can be tough to get your beauty sleep.  Arrive prepared with your favorite set of earplugs (here’s a link to my favorite brand), an eye mask, or whichever items help you snooze.

4.Water, water, water – you know there will be drinks so regardless if you imbibe or not, stay hydrated!  Our bodies are composed of more than 60% water, so it’s not surprising that dehydration can be so unpleasant.  Drink up the H2O when you can so you feel your best.

5.Share – when you get together with your girls to eat, no matter where you go, there are bound to be delicious yet not-so-nutritious treats on the menu or lurking around somewhere.  You don’t have to completely swear off or let them haunt you, but instead share them with someone.  Split a consciously indulgent dish or a dessert with one or a few other gals, take one or a few bites so that you get to enjoy it, and then feel sated.  Remember, you have control over the food and the food doesn’t have control of you!  It can’t even talk.  A taste can be enough!

Wherever your gal pal trips take you, have a blast and keep in mind that you can do so without throwing all your health and fitness progress completely out the window.  And if you do get a little off track, keep in mind that it’s never too late to get back into the habit once you’re back home.
