You might have already picked up on this but…we moved! Not too far, just to Charlottesville, VA, which is about 3 hours from where we were living in Virginia Beach.  A little side note – a perk of training clients on FaceTime/Skype and YouTube is that distance doesn’t matter, I can train you wherever you are!  Thank you, technology.

Moving can be stressful in so very many different ways (i.e. how did we end up with so much stuff?! And seriously I had THAT many hangers?!) and really be quite an arduous process. I can’t even count how many moves I’ve done, including a few cross-country and an overseas stint. But there are a few positive things about the whole process that actually make it worth it. Think I’m crazy?

Anyway, here are my 5 fave things about moving:

1. Streamlining

It feels SO GOOD to donate, recycle, and just toss out things I don’t need (read more on this topic in a previous blog post here). After traveling this summer in Europe with just a backpack for about 2.5 months, I’ve learned that it is so nice to possess less. No I haven’t read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, but might just have to so that we can whittle it down even more…to make room for more workout clothes! Yessss!

2. Establishing a New Routine

Even if you move to a different apartment in the same building, things will be different. I enjoy figuring out new ways of living out daily life in a new environment. My morning coffee view is much different from the last and my workout regimen is also revamped. Life is fun when you mix it up and keep it interesting.  Moving is the perfect time to introduce new habits like a fresh workout plan.  Yours truly would be honored to help!

3. Meeting New People

I LOVE this part of moving! To me, meeting new people and learning about them is such an enriching experience. I love and adore the people who are already in my life, but it’s also exciting to widen my circle! Between Chase’s MBA program and my new gym, I swear my social calendar has never been so full.  Trying to learn how to be a #socialbutterfly.  And use hashtags.

4. Learning a new area

I enjoy the “challenge” of making a new city feel like home. Discovering the best restaurant, the local place to get my hair done, knowing the shortcut; all these little things give me a sense of accomplishment. It feels so awesome to learn my around!

5. Beginning of a New Chapter

A move signifies a fresh start in life and gives me the opportunity to see things in a different light. It’s a reminder that I have the power to create and shape my life however I want. It’s not always easy and there are bumps in the road, but I love knowing that I can do this thing called life and I can do it well.

On a final note, we’re ready for visitors! Cville is a very cool city so let us know if you’re around and we’ll meet up. You also have my permission to scold me if you see any empty boxes lying around!
